On 19 September 2024 the NexusForum2024 Summit was held in Brussels at AREA42, establishing itself as a key event for the European cloud‑edge ecosystem and digital sovereignty. Supported by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe program, the summit brought together over 200 experts, institutions, companies, and research projects to foster strategic dialogue on emerging enabling technologies: from cognitive cloud infrastructures to data spaces, digital sovereignty, and industrial and scientific innovation.
At NexusForum2024, Alessandra Bagnato (Head of Research at SofteamGroup and MYRTUS consortium member) played a central role in showcasing both the potential of cognitive cloud technologies and the MYRTUS project.
During the “Pitch Sessions: Horizon Europe Projects,” where the EUCloudEdgeIoT community of projects joined forces to showcase their innovations, Alessandra highlighted the objectives, goals, and key innovations of MYRTUS EU, demonstrating how the project leverages AI-driven solutions, distributed orchestration, and adaptive computing to enable interoperable and secure Data Spaces. The presentation was addressed to IPCEI Cloud representatives and industry members, emphasizing MYRTUS’s role in fostering collaboration between research and industry, strengthening Europe’s digital sovereignty, and supporting the adoption of intelligent, scalable infrastructures for next-generation data-driven services.

During the panel “The Cognitive Cloud as Key Enabler for Data Spaces”, she highlighted how AI-enabled cloud-edge infrastructures are crucial for creating value in Common European Data Spaces, enabling intelligent orchestration, adaptive automation, and robust data governance, while addressing interoperability and secure data-sharing challenges.
