On 1 July 2025, the “Standardisation Activities in the Cognitive Computing Continuum” webinar brought together seven Horizon Europe projects to explore how standardisation is shaping the future of distributed AI, swarm computing, and intelligent orchestration across IoT, edge, and cloud layers. During the session, each project shared its ongoing efforts and vision for engaging with standardisation in the cognitive computing domain, followed by a joint panel discussion that highlighted common challenges and opportunities for alignment.
🎤 Speakers
- HYPER-AI – Mohammed Elbamby
- INTEND – Thijs Metsch
- EMPYREAN – Panagiotis Kokkinos
- ENACT – Alexandros Nizami
- MYRTUS – Alessandra Bagnato
- Swarmchestrate – Jay Deslauriers
- CoGNETs – Angel Cataron
Alessandra Bagnato represented MYRTUS, presenting the project’s approach to contributing to future standards for the computing continuum. Her presentation emphasised MYRTUS’s focus on creating interoperable, AI‑driven solutions that support seamless coordination across heterogeneous layers of distributed systems, and on aligning these innovations with broader European standardisation goals.
The webinar was a valuable forum for advancing dialogue on how collective research efforts can influence the development of shared frameworks for dynamic orchestration, trustworthiness, and interoperability in cognitive computing. Slides and the full recording from the webinar are available for download, providing a detailed view of each project’s standardisation activities and future plans.
