The EMEC workshop (Energy and Material Efficiency in Cloud-edge continuum) has officially launched its Call for Contributions for the DATE 2026 conference, which will take place in Verona, Italy, from April 20 to 22, 2026.

As digital infrastructures proliferate at an unprecedented scale, the environmental impact of the cloud-edge continuum has become a critical concern, accounting for a rapidly growing share of global energy consumption and material use. The EMEC workshop aims to address this challenge by gathering experts from academia and industry to explore new methodologies, metrics, and tools for eco-design and circular economy approaches. The objective is to optimize energy and material efficiency holistically across the entire continuum, from hardware and software to their complex interactions.

A Strategic Partnership for Sustainability – The themes addressed by EMEC are deeply intertwined with the core research objectives of the MYRTUS project. Due to this strong alignment and the relevance of these topics to our mission of advancing sustainable digital systems, MYRTUS is proud to be a sponsor of the workshop. This collaboration is further reflected in the event’s coordination: the workshop is proposed and organized by partners of the European projects MYRTUS and EECONE, highlighting the collaborative spirit of our consortium.

Participate in the Workshop – Researchers, vendors, and specialists are invited to submit their latest findings to contribute to this vital dialogue on the environmental sustainability of electronics. Submissions should be in the form of abstracts (maximum one page) and must be submitted by the deadline of 23 February 2026.

For further information on the submission process, key dates, and the full list of topic areas, please visit the official DATE 2026 workshop page.
